He was the son of Peter Geschwind, who was born at Echternach, Grandy Ducy of Luxemburg, Germany, and Amelia Piehl, born at Ashford, Fund du Lac County, Wisconsin. His parents were married on November 11, 1876 at Sleepy Eye, and settled there for the remainder of their lives. He married Margery MacMaster on September 20, 1905. He died in Sleepy Eye, Brown County, Minnesota.
