Mrs. Julia Bell Atkinson Richardson, 94, widow of Lonnie L. Richardson died Saturday, December 24, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family, after an illness.

Mrs. Richardson, a loving wife and mother was born June 4, 1922 in Brittons Neck, a daughter of the late William Woodberry Atkinson and the late Maybell Tindall Atkinson. She lived with her family on an active farm and in later years she worked in the Brittons Neck School Lunchroom. Mrs. Richardson was a very faithful and active member of Nebo Baptist Church, where over the years she was a very active member of the WMU.

Surviving Mrs. Richardson are three daughters, Evelyn Phillips of Bennettsville, Inez Richardson of Brittons Neck and Annette (Gerald) Hicks of Pamplico; three sons, Alvin Richardson of Sumter, Larry Richardson of Brittons Neck and Donnie (Cheryl) Richardson of Seneca; a brother, Clifton (Rose) Atkinson of Darlington; a sister, Eloise (Horace) Ammons of Marion; 9 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Richardson was predeceased by a granddaughter, Nikki Ryan Richardson; four brothers, David Atkinson, Harmon Atkinson, W. J. Atkinson and Herbert Atkinson; and two sisters, Wanda Vivian Atkinson and Dora Leatha Atkinson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon, December 27, at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Nebo Baptist Church, with Rev. Luford Pope officiating. Burial will be at Old Neck Cemetery.
