Wounded in Action at Ayer Hitam Road, he was evacuated to AGH where doctors operated and amputated his leg.
He survived the actual operation, but died soon after, just prior to his best mate and others arriving at the hospital in order to see him.
He was originally buried in Grave 8254A at Bidodarri.
Commemoration in Australia at The Australian War Memorial in Canberra; and on the Family Grave at Lutwyche Cemetery, Brisbane.
