Yona J. Arnold

Yona J. Arnold, age 80, of Gloversville, passed away on Thursday February 12, 2009 at the Mtn. Valley Hospice House, after a long illness.
She was born June 1, 1928 in Johnstown, a daughter to the late John Valik and Mildred Ryder Valik.

Mrs. Arnold was a homemaker.

Yona was a passionate reader and during her lifetime read over thirty thousand books.
She was a member of the Gloversville Public Library as well as a member of the Friends of the Library.

On October 4, 1946 she was united in marriage to Forrest "Bud" Arnold who passed away on June 7, 1994.

Survivors include four sons Francis Arnold and his companion Cara, Stephen Arnold and his wife Denise, Philip Arnold and his wife Donna, and David Arnold and his wife Cindy; five daughters Janna Lee, Joanna Valik-Arnold and her lifelong companion Debbie Taylor, Elizabeth Lindsley and her husband David, Mildred McClary and her husband Lloyd, Regina 'Gina" Poindexter and her husband Mike; two sisters Anna Ruby, and Helen Valik; one brother John Valik; grandchildren Ira Blowers, Jamie Moore, Kali Arnold, Christie Arnold, Richard Little, Sean-Michael Quigley, David Poindexter, Thara LeBrija, Matthew Arnold, Amy Snell, and Michael Euler; great grandchildren Zachariah Blowers, Kayla Pipkens, Christian Arnold, Julianna LeBrija, Kaleb Forrest LeBrija, Brandon Snell, Caleigh Snell, and Ethan Euler; several nieces, nephews and cousins; her pet family Comanche Forrest.

In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Melissa Arnold, granddaughter Amy Marie Arnold King, a brother Paul Valik and infant sister Mary Valik.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.

Memorial contributions may be made in Yona's memory to the Gloversville Public Library or to Mtn. Valley Hospice.
