Lillian Marie Adkins, 77, of Van, departed this life on Friday, April 17, 2009 surrounded by her family and loved ones after an extended illness.
She was born on April 20, 1932 to Herman and Bertha Adkins.

She was a member of Bigson Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, James Adkins; daughters, Kathy Baldwin and husband Danny, Margaret Workman and husband Glen, Gaye Baisden and husband Gary; son, Donald Adkins and wife Kay; sisters, Shirley Lockard of Columbus, Ohio, Barbara Workman and husband Lloyd of Chattanooga, Tennessee; brothers, Charles Adkins of Van, and Jimmy Adkins and wife Pat of Madison; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. Even though she is gone from our lives in person, she will never be gone from our hearts and we know she is in a better place resting high on the mountain.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 20 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Phil Rowe and Jack Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Danville.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home
