Mrs. David F. (Winnifred) Holmes, 90, Holmes 1527 E. Hickory Street, succumbed at 11:55 p.m., Monday, She had beenin ill helath several months.
Daughter of John and Isabelle (Ogden) Fraser,she was born May 20, 1884 in Arthur, Ontario, Canada. She married David F. Holmes, Oct 31, 1910 in Danville. He died Oct 8, 1951.
Also preceeding her in death were five brothers, Fred, John, Edward, Norman, and Walter, and asister, Mrs. George (May) Love.
Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. L.J. (Winnifred) Seibel, Streator; Mrs. Lester ( Margaret) Johnson, Morris; Mrs. Archibald ( Roberta) Benedict, Glen Ellyn; Mrs. Eldon (Norma) Worsley, Mendota; and Mrs. Paul D. (Davie) Smith, Shaker Heights, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, George W. Fraser of Houston, Texas.
Mrs, Holmes was a resident of Streator all her lifetime and was a member pf the Park Church. She wasactive in all church societies, E. Re Nata Study Club, Chapter Cm of the PEO Sisterhood, In As Much Circle pf King's Daughters and was a charter member pf theReading unit of Home Bureau.
Mrs. Holmes attended State Normal University and the University of Chicago. She taught in Streator and Danville grade schools.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m., Wednesday at Elias Funeral Home and Thursday mornig until 11 a.m., when the body will be taken to Park Church for services at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery
