She was raised on the family farm and attended school in Yankton. She married Robert Brown on August 4, 1967, in Yankton. After their marriage , Lucille worked with her husband as a team driver for Holbrook Trucking. She started working at Dale Electronics, then moved on to M-Tron, and the EIP where she worked as a seamstress until 2001.
She enjoyed beading, sewing, and visiting. She was a good mother and grandmother and accepted anyone for who they were, never judging them. She was also always willing to help, np matter what was asked of her.
She is survived by her step-son, Robert Brown Jr. of HArrisburg, South Dakota; five children, Robert W. (Bear) Blakey of Yankton, Bill Brown of Mitchell, S.D., Spencer (Lisa)Brown of Mitchell, Marlene (Michaael) Woodraska of Yankton, and Troy (Becky) Brown of Yankton; several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; two step-sisters, Elsie R. Blakey of Omaha, Ne., and Susan Blakey of Ca.; three brothers, Jackie L. Blakey of of Sioux Falls, S.D., Mark R. (Jackie) Blakey of Yankton, and James Dean Blakey of Sturgis, S.D.' step-brother, Spencer Earl Blakey of Californis; and many other family members and frends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, (Robert); maternal and paternal grandparents; two sisters, Janet and Linda Blakey; brother, Michael Lee Blakey, and step-sister Loretta Blakey.
Services were held Friday, April 17, 2009, 2:00 PM at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home , Yankton, South Dakota, officiated by Reverend Joe Schulte. Music: "Amazing Grace", "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", "And The Sun is Coming Up" by Cecil Poynter, soloist.
