Rella Lee Cooper was the daughter of David and Nancy DeWitt Cooper of Hiwassee. Rella met her husband, John R.Duty, when both were teaching school. They were married April 23, 1905, in Bentonville. She raised five natural sons, and one adopted son and daughter. She was a masterful cook and gardener and had a wide musical talent in voice, organ and Zither. Her children and grandchildren adored her.
