Inez Witten
Inez Witten, age 102, of Maypearl, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Pleasant Manor Health and Rehab. She was born April 10, 1907 in Josephine, Texas to Sarah Etta Jordan and James Coleman. Inez was a longtime resident of the Maypearl area, coming to Maypearl in 1938 as one of the early telephone operators for Three States Telephone Company. In 1942, Inez was married to Samuel Clement Witten. They lived in Maypearl for one year and moved to the Witten Ranch in 1943. Inez continued the ranching operation after her husband's death in 1951 and was a member of First Methodist Church in Maypearl. One son, Samuel Clement Witten, Jr. was born in 1945 and preceded her in death in 1987. Also preceding her in death were five brothers and five sisters.
Inez is survived by one grandson, Samuel Clement Witten III and his wife, Lisa; great grandson Samuel Clement Witten IV and a great granddaughter, Maggie Renee Witten all of the Maypearl/Italy area.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
