Bynum Dockery Absher was the son of Abram Absher and Nancy Walker, born in Wilkes Co., N.C., on Aug. 4,1854. Bynum left home at a young age, and went to Tn., where he was taken in, and schooled by nuns. Bynum later migrated to Pike Co., Ky. where he married for a short time, to Matilda Frances, in Pike Co.Ky., on Jan. 29,1874, which ended in divorce, with no children from this union. Bynum married a second time to Nancy Ann Coleman, in Pike Co., Ky., on Aug. 4, 1881, and had a large family. They resided in Pike Co.,Ky., until 1897 when he moved his family to Lewis Co., Wa., along with other families and relatives from that area, by covered wagons. There, he made his living in the lumber business. Bynum and Nancy had the following children: Maro, 1881-1956; John, b. 1885; Louvenia, 1887-1958; William Frederick, 1889-1960; Alpha "Pearl", 1891-1974; Russell Lowell, 1894-1964; Verda Maude, 1897-1961; Harry Allen, b. 1899; Olice Mary, 1902-1974; Reland B., b. 1904; Florence Beatrice, 1907-1926; Bynum "Herbert", 1909-1928. Bynum Dockery Absher died January 14, 1924, near Fort Steilacoom, Lewis, Wa.
