He was 87 years old, and lived in the Globe-Miami area for 75 years. Born in Waco, Tex., his family homesteaded in Wheatfields in 1896. He was a graduate of Tempe Normal School (now Arizona State University) with the Class of 1899. He was a retired Arizona State Highway Department employee and a member of the Globe Knights of Pythias. He was survived by a daughter, Mrs. Orville Larson of Miami; three sisters, Mrs. T.J. Long of Globe, Mrs. Polly Brown of Payson, Mrs. Del Benson of Truth or Consequences, NM; and a brother, Mark Hicks of Wheatfields. He died at a rest home in Phoenix.
