Abraham was a son of Israel Newton (1790-1839) and Sarah Musick (1794-1835). He married Nancy M. Farmer 11 January 1854 in Cole County, Missouri. They pulled up stakes and moved to Marion County, Arkansas sometime between 1860 and 1870. There they raised their 11 children (or at least as many as survived -- in 1900 only 4 were still alive).
