"Col. Henry C. Beebe, 87, one of the oldest pensioners of the American Express Company, in whose service he had spent fifty-four consecutive years, died at 12:45 o'clock Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mayme Dent, 707 South Nineth Street, after an illness of three years.
Colonel Beebe was born in Pompell (sic), NY, and had lived here since 1872. He was colonel of the Twenty-first regiment, Company D, of New York in the civil war. He was associated with the American Express Company until 1906 when he retired on pension. He was a member of the Royal Arcanum, a charter member of the Elks, local lodge No. 531, and of the Episcopal church.
Colonel Beebe is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dent, of this city; two sons, William D. Beebe of this city and James R. Beebe of Omaha; one brother, F. F. Beebe of Logan, IA; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30o'clock from St. Pauls Episcopal church, Rev. W. E. Mann officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery."
