Edwin Hurd Beebe
I am researching Edwin Hurd Beebe (Memorial #63853510) for a project on the 111th New York Infantry. The biography on his Find-A-Grave entry mentions his service during the Civil War, but there is no mention of his time with the 111th New York. Here is a summary of his service:
At the age of seventeen, Edwin enlisted at Ledyard to serve for three years. He was mustered into service as a Private in Company I of the 111th New York Infantry on January 5th. When the veterans of the 111th New York mustered out of service on June 4, 1865, soldiers who had not yet served their entire term of enlistment were transferred to the 4th New York Heavy Artillery.
Here is a link to the roster of the 111th New York Infantry, Edwin is listed under the last name Beebe: https://museum.dmna.ny.gov/application/files/8615/5309/4876/111th_Infantry_CW_Roster.pdf
On June 4th, Edwin was assigned to Battery B, 4th New New York Heavy Artillery. He mustered out of Federal Service on September 26, 1865 at Washington, DC.
