Historian, Educator. He is best known for his book "John Hay" (1933), for which he won the 1934 Pulitzer Prize for biography. Dennett taught American history at Johns Hopkins University (1923 to 1924) and at Columbia University (1927 to 1928), and international relations at Princeton (1931 to 1934). He served as president of Williams College from 1934 to 1937.
