Lydia Dixon Heathman, b. 1806 in Ohio, the daughter of Michael Dixon and Catherine Hartman Dixon. She Married Leven Heathman on July 24, 1823 in Portage Co., Ohio. Soon after they moved in Berrien Co., Michigan,by 1848. The family of 8 children; Nancy, Bennett, Francis, Catherine, James, Mary, Betsey and Lucy. About 1876 some of the children moved to Iowa. Bennett, Francis, James, Catherine and her husband Thomas Lightfoot, Lucy and her husband Urich Gress. Lydia Dixon Heathman the Mother also came. She was listed as a widow on the 1880 Cen. It is unknown if Leven died in Michigan or made the trip to Iowa. NEW Leven did make the trip to Iowa, and he in fact died there and is buried next to his wife. There is NO headstone for them,
James, Francis, Lucy with her husband all moved back to Michigan. Catherine died, and Bennett moved on to South Dakota after the death of Lydia. Two grandsons also made this trip the son of Lydia deceisd daughter Mary Barnum. George Barnum and Charles Barnum. Knowning is known of Charles, but George Barnum stay on in Iowa and is listed on the 1900 Cen. in Osceda Co. Still unmarried. A cousin went out to the cemetery in 2005, She looked at the spot where Lydia was buried. No gravestone markes this spot today.
