Mrs. Leona R. Ashley, 88, of the St. Regis Nursing Home, formerly of Brighton Street, died Friday afternoon April 24, 2009 at the St. Regis Nursing Home. She had been a patient since October 2, 2008.
Leona was born February 7, 1921, in Massena, the daughter of Herbert and Bessie (Lavine) Robinson. She graduated from Massena High School and the Massena School of Business. She married Albert H. Ashley, he died Feb. 27, 1978. She was a secretary at Alcoa, and later a clerk at the Warren Memorial Library in Massena. She was an avid reader.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Amy Ashley, Massena, a daughter, Nancy Bradley, Massena, five grandchildren, one sister , Hilda Maston, Massena, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter Mary P. Ashley, March 26, 1967 and a brother Bruce Robinson, Jan, 1999.
Private calling hours and funeral service will be at the Donaldson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Area 2, Massena.
