Funeral services for Lonzo Sebe Alford, age 73 years, were conducted from the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19th with burial following in the Morris Cemetery, near Mt. Hermon….

Alford died at approximately 7:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16th. The body lay in state at Poole Funeral Home in Franklinton until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when it was taken to the church where it lay in state there until time for the service to begin.

During his active years Alford was a farmer and school bus operator but had lived in retirement for the past several years.

Survivors include one son, A.D. Alford of Mt. Hermon; three daughters, Mrs. Audelle Boyd of Gretna, Louisiana; Mrs. Odille Miller of Jackson, Louisiana and Mrs. Hasselton Tyson of Atlanta Ga.; three brothers, Benton Alford of Mt. Hermon; G[ilbert]. K. Alford [AAFA #0047] of Greensburg and Lora Alford of Walterborough, South Carolina; three sisters, Mrs. Leoda Smith, Tylertown, Miss.; Mrs. Lexie Schaeffer [sic]of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Gussie Fortenberry of Metairie, a number of grandchildren and a host of other relatives in southeast Louisiana and south Mississippi….
