Mrs. Georgetta M. Garretson died at 12:25 today at Memorial hospital after a prolonged illness. She was the wife of the late James F. Garretson. Mrs. Garretson was born and reared in Springfield and was the daughter of the late John J. and Margaret E. Decker, pioneer residents of the city. For many years she was employed as a proofreader by the Illinois State Register and later by the Illinois State Journal and Register. She was a lifelong member of the First Methodist church and was also a member of King's Daughters.

Surviving are two sons, Donald D. of Chicago and James T. of city; one grandson;; and two sisters, Mrs. Rosalie E. Baker and Miss Carrie Decker. - IL State Journal, Springfield, IL, 4-18-1945
