Barbara, the oldest of 10 children born to Otis Cecil and Lela Opal Lane Ponder. The family moved to the Detroit, Michigan area when Barbara was a baby. The other 9 children were born in Detroit and they are as follows: Nancy Elizabeth, David Francis, Norma Jean, Cecil Otis, Jr., Carol Ann, James Martin, Kathleen Mary, Donald Noel and Susan Marie. Barbara married Roger L. Hare and they lived in New Mexico and Arizona for several years.
