Amelia Heath Duckett
Amelia Heath, daughter of Henry and Ann Heath, was born at Weare, near Axbridge, Somersetshire, England, Feb. 2, 1837, and died at the home of her daughter, Anna Boyden, in Sharpsburg, Iowa, May 7th, 1926, aged 89 years, 3 months, and five days. She lived in England until she was twenty-six years of age, when she came to New York City, crossing the Atlantic in a sailing vessel, taking six weeks for the voyage. After living in New York about a year she came to Wisconsin where she made her home with her uncle and aunt. Here she met and married Noah Duckett, April 24, 1864. They came to Iowa about 50 years ago and suffered the hardships of pioneer life. In 1877 they moved to Taylor County, where her home has been since. To this union were born seven children, Anna, Gilbert, Fred, Jessie, Susie and May, one child dying in infancy. About 35 years ago she united with the Blue Grove church during the pastorate of W. L. Dunlavy. Failing health prevented attendance at church in the late years. Besides her six children she has 20 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one brother to mourn her passing. She was a most faithful and loving Christian character, scattering sunshine and joy throughout her life's journey.

Funeral services were conducted at the Blue Grove church by the pastor, Rev. Paul Mitchell, on Sunday afternoon, May 9th, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Fairview cemetery at Bedford.

[Note: She is buried in Lenox East Fairview Cemetery, Lenox, Taylor County, Iowa, not in Bedford Fairview as stated in the obituary.]
