She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Patton, one of Globe's earliest pioneer families and merchants. He came to Globe with his family in 1880, then moved to Tombstone and Benson for a year or two, then returned to Globe to stay in 1887. Elsie became secretary to Territorial Judge Ernest W. Lewis when she was 16. next she was the Clerk of the Court with George Smalley. Later she was clerk for Judge J.W. Wentworth for 30 years, after the territory became a state. She joined the staff of the Arizona Record newspaper in 1938, where she worked until her illness caused her retirement. she was society editor, and was in charge of circulation. She was survived by two sisters, Miss Ethel Patton of Globe and Phoenix, and Mrs. J.A. Wamsley of Phoenix.
