Claude "Tub" Banks of Springville, IN, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at his residence. Born on April 17, 1927, in Springville, IN, he was the son of Avery and Iva A. (Walker) Banks. He married Helen Glasgow on March 1, 1946, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are four sons: Ronald Banks of Oolitic,IN, Dana R. Banks, Jerry Dean Banks, and Roger Banks, all of Springville, IN; one daughter, Donna Ratkovich of Springville, IN; two brothers, James Banks of Mitchell, IN, and Robert Banks of Bloomington, IN; one sister, Phyllis Andis of Springville, IN; twelve grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alva and Harry Banks; and one sister, Maude Banks.

He was a retired farmer and a disabled veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Gospel Lighthouse Church and the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33.

Services for Claude Banks will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 4th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Byers-Rainbolt Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33.
