ALTOONA -- Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Neodesha for Charles "Red" Hemme, 74, Altoona. He died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at a Neodesha nursing home.
Mr. Hemme was a machinist and he served in the South Pacific in the Army during World War II.
He was born July 14, 1924, at Yates Center, the son of Louis E. and Leona Phelps Hemme. He attended school in Elk City. Mr. Hemme was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Machinist Union and some bowling leagues.
No immediate family members survive.
Burial with military graveside rites conducted by Post No. 5962 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be at the Altoona Cemetery.
