Herbert D. Jones, 77, died at yesterday afternoon at the home of his son, Herbert Jones Jr., Canajoharie, R.D. 2 at 1:20 p.m. Born February 24, 1885 in Canajoharie R.D. 2. He lived in that area all his life working as a carpenter until his retirement in 1952. His parents were Charles H. Jones and Cora McEwan. A member of the Marshville Evangelical Church, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sadie Duesler Jones, Fort Plain, a son, Harvey E. Jones, Canajoharie R.D.1; a stepson, Albert Duesler, Fort Plain and nine grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for the Houghtaling funeral home in Canajoharie for Monday at 2:00 p.m. and the Rev. Earl Van Leeuwen, pastor of the Marshville Evangelical Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Fort Plain Cemetery.
