During WW II Edward served as a Warrant Officer Class II (Battery Sergeant Major) in the Royal Artillery (1024493). He died as a casualty of war 7 Sep 1942 in Belvedere, Kent, England. He was buried in St John the Baptist Churchyard in Erith, London, Kent. Lily last resided in Garlinge Margate, Kent.
