Melinda Haskins was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Haskins. Jesse's second wife was Lucy Patterson, his third wife was Henrietta.

Melinda married Samuel Greene in 1833 in NY and they came to to Portland on July 4, 1837.

The children of Melinda and Samuel were:
1. Lorenzo Wayne Greene b Jan. 1, 1835; married Cornelia Augusta Finch.
2. Lucy Ann Greene b Aug. 21, 1837; m Charles Eugene Goodwin "J. K. SWIPES"

Obituary of Mrs. Green, published in the Portland Observer, Wednesday, November 5, 1890:
Mrs. Malinda Green, relict of the late Samuel Green, died at her home near Collins on Wednesday last, aged 71 years. Mrs. Green was among the very early settlers of the township, coming here at about the same time as the Toan
family.
The funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Friday last and were attended by a large number of neighbors and relatives, by whom the deceased was held in high regard. Deceased leaves a family of ten children grown to manhood and womanhood, a large portion of whom were present from abroad at the funeral.

Michigan Death Index lists cause of death as "dropsy."
Age is given as 76 years, 5 months and 6 days.
