SMITH, MRS. EDITH L. (MONROE) - age 86, of Spring Street, Maynardville, passed away suddenly Monday morning, October 16, 2000, at her home. She was of the Methodist faith and attended First Baptist Church of Maynardville and was a retired employee of Palm Beach Co. Preceded in death by husband, Ellery Smith; parents, Elvin and Lennie (Carr) Monroe. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Roy E. Jr. and Joyce Smith; daughters and sons-in-law, Alice Chesney, Laverne and Bob Chamberlain, Phyllis and W. L. McMahan; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Edna Sharpe of Luttrell, Trula Lody of Maynardville, Susie Matthews of Sevierville, Barbara J. Johnson of Plainview; brother, J. E. Monroe, Jr. of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 8 p.m. Tuesday, Cooke Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Philip King officiating with music by Lisa Booker, Lana Booker and Cheryl Walker. Interment 11 a.m. Wednesday, Pleasant View Cemetery with Rev. Joe McCoy officiating atthe graveside. Pallbearers will be Grandsons. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Cooke Mortuary, Maynardville.
