Catherine, daughter of Michael and Eva
Fisch, was born Aug. 28th, 1857 and
departed this life Nov. 2, 1937 aged 80
years, 2 months and 5 days.
She was born in Muscatine County, Iowa
and at the age of 16 came with her parents
to a farm in Iowa county about 9 miles east
of Deep River.
March 11, 1880, the deceased was married to
James Gabriel and to this union was born
four children, one dying in infancy.
She was one of a family of 8 children, 2
of whom remain. Nearly all of her married
life was spent on the farm east of Deep
River where she has a host of friends.
In November, 1921, Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel
moved to Deep River where she spent her
remaining days.
In early life she was converted and joined
the German Methodist church later trans-
ferring her membership to the Hope Chapel
M. E. church. At her death she was a
member of this church.
She leaves to mourn her passing one
daughter, Mrs. Lydia Healy and two sons,
Carl and Wesley, two sisters, Mrs.
Anna Irons of Keswick and Mrs. Caroline
Maurer of Wilton Junction, six grand-
children and one great grandchild. Her
husband passed away Feb. 15, 1936.
Mrs. Gabriel has been ill for the past
year and has been a patient sufferer
throughout her illness.
