Carrying money for Washington to pay soldiers - accompanied by slaves.
He removed to Mendon in 1809, where he became judge of the Ontario County court, and during the remainder of his life resided upon the spot first settled as a home. He was universally esteemed by all who knew him. He married 11/26/1784, Phebe Dewey, of Sheffield, Mass. They had ten children, five of whom died in infancy.
