Sam Eff Jr., was born November 5, 1926 in Birmingham, Alabama to Lena and Sam Eff Sr. He was the youngest of seven children.

As a child he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mountain Park. Sam married his childhood sweetheart. Angie Lean Gamble at the age of eighteen on March 16, 1945. He was drafted into the army that same year serving in WWII. Sam and Angie had two children, a son Terry and a daughter Sylvia. Looking for work he moved to Michigan, Sam was employed by Ford Motor Company in 1953, he retired in 1980.

Sam was known throughout Southwest Detroit for riding his bike and talking to anyone that would talk back.

Sam leaves to cherish his memory his wife Angie, son Terry Eff, daughter Sylvia Grayson, Grandson Chris, Granddaughter Stephanie, Great Grandson Deion and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service were held Friday May 8, 2009, 11:00 A.M. at Triumph Church 2550 Liddesdale Detroit, MI 48217 with interment in Woodmere Cemetery 9400 West Fort Street Detroit, MI 48209
