Estella Lillian Barnes was born near Meadville in Meade County, Kentucky. She was the 4th oldest child of Armstead L. Barnes and Inez G. Dickerson Barnes. Inez had a sister named Estella.

Estella married Henry Clifford Hudson September 10, 1893 in Patterson, Harvey County, Kansas.
They had children;
1. Leona Estella Hudson, born December 4, 1894, married C. L. Jackson in November 1916.
2. Oliver Donavan Hudson, born March 19, 1899, married Cynthia Margaret Snell.
3. Merle Clifford Hudson, born November 19, 1901 at Mt. Hope, Kansas.
4. Harold Clyde Hudson, born August 14, 1907 in Ford County, Kansas. Died April 14, 1936.

In 1900, Henry and Estella were living on Waco Avenue in Wichita, Kansas. Henry's occupation was listed as motorman.

The 1916 land plat on the right (section 20) shows where Estella and Henry once farmed 160 acres in Sodville Twp., Ford County, Kansas, which is adjacent to the farm of her cousin, William Burnis Barnes (section 19). Section 29 shows property owned by Estella's father, A. L. Barnes.
