FARMINGTON — Henrietta "Toots" (Perret) Barton, 91, of Farmington, devoted wife for 32 years to the late Howard F. Barton, died suddenly Thursday, May 7, 2009, at John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington.

Born on Nov. 5, 1917, daughter of the late Fritz and Alice (Aeschlimann) Perret, she was raised in Torrington, lived in West Hartford for the last 60 years and moved to Farmington seven years ago.

In 1940, she graduated from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing and was employed as a registered nurse for many years. After her husband passed away, she enjoyed her work in the cafeteria at Hall High School. Henrietta took pleasure in crewel, needlework, knitting and baking, having many requests for her banana crème pies and German chocolate cakes. She was happiest spending time with her family.

She leaves two sons, Wayne H. Barton and his wife Linda of Simsbury, and Dale C. Barton and his wife Jean of Avon; an "adopted" daughter, Linda Tehan of West Hartford; two brothers, Arthur H. Perret and Charles H. Perret and his wife Gloria; and her sister, Lucille P. Lynch, all of Torrington.

Her family will receive friends Tuesday, May 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. Her funeral service will be Wednesday, May 13, 11 a.m. at the Carmon Funeral Home, Avon. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
