Mrs. Christine Kelley Crews, 79, long-time resident of Hoover Road in the Duck River Community, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Joe Rhodes and Glenn Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Stand Cemetery in the Shady Grove Community. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Horace Kelley and Winnie Watkins Kelley. She was married April 28, 1953 to the late Charles Austin "Charlie" Crews who preceded her in death October 2, 1976. She retired in 1979 from Publix Manufacturing Company.

A loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Crews enjoyed watching her grandsons mow and working in the yard.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Fay and Joe Shelby of Shady Grove; a sister, Mary Sue Brown of Columbia; grandsons, Joseph Charles (Bridgett Griggs) Shelby and Albert Brown Shelby, both of Shady Grove; neighbor and in-law, Jean Shelby of Shady Grove; several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers were Joseph Shelby, Albert Shelby, Terry Lindsey, Richard Cothran, Albert Williams, and Amos McCoy. Staff of Willowbrook Home Health Care are honorary pallbearers.
