Dorothy Poynton was born the daughter of Richard Ernest and Alice Edith Hall Poynton in Salt Lake City, Utah the youngest daughter of the family. Both her parents came here from England when her older siblings were youngsters. Her only younger sibling, William Poynton, died within an hour of birth. Married first husband Nelson Hill in 1934 and second husband Gerald or Jerry Tueber in 1942. She competed in and won three Summer Olympics diving cometitions (1928-Silver medal for 3 metre springboard, 1932-Gold medal for 10 metre platform, and 1936-Gold medal for 10 metre platform and Bronze medal for 3 metre springboard) She was just 14 years old in her first Olympics in 1928.
