Roy Theodore Brown, Sr. was the son of Winfield Scott Brown and Dollie Mae O'Donnell Brown. He was named Theodore Roy but didn't like the name Theodore so he went by Roy. He was one of 12 children which are listed under his father - Winfield Scott Brown's memorial.
Roy Brown, Sr. married Mary "Hazel" COFFMAN (the correct spelling) - Kauffman she used on her marriage license - in the newspaper article. She also complicated the genealogy trail by changing the spelling of her last name because she thought it was "cool" back then. Roy and Hazel were married in a TRIPLE WEDDING Ceremony with Roy's brother Frank Brown, Sr. and their sister, Audrey Brown. There was a big write up in the Indianapolis newspaper. Roy and Hazel were the only ones out of the three couples to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Roy and Hazel Brown were the parents of 6 children: Roy T. Brown, Jr, Alvin "Earl" Brown, Sr, Dorothy Christine, Ernest Leon, Marlene LaVonne, and Ronald Lee Brown.
Roy owned his own family plumbing business until he retired. His sons worked in the family business as well as one of his daughters as secretary.
Roy enjoyed numerous hobbies - his old movies (16mm and 8mm), photography and developing his own film. His passion was mostly fishing where there were many family memories made at Loon Lake and Jones Lake where he died in his sleep. Family life was very important to Roy and Hazel, they had a very close relationship with their children, parents, and entire families.
