Ernest Leon Brown, Sr. was born at 3:10 A.M. on the 5th of August 1933 at home - 4344 N. Baltimore Avenue (later renamed Evanston Avenue) in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana the son of Roy Theodore Brown, Sr. 1904-1974 and Mary "Hazel" COFFMAN Brown 1907-1988.

On the 23rd of March 1957 Ernest Leon Brown married Judith Marie Rigby in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. Judy was the daughter of Lilburn Rigby and his wife, Mildred WATSON Rigby of Indianapolis, Indiana.

After the divorce from his first wife, Judy on the 5th of January 1966, Ernie then married Roberta "Joan" Palmer on the 27th of July 1973 in Lawrence, Marion County, Indiana. She had a daughter, Kimberly, from a previous marriage. They resided in the Evanston home until they moved into their new home on the Southside of Indy at 7437 Gordon Way. They and his Mother, Hazel Brown, had separate homes built close together so she would have someone to help her when needed yet remain independent.
Ernie was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a plumber at the Roy T Brown Plumbing and Heating Co, his Dad's business, with his brothers. Brothers Earl and Ronnie worked as a team, and brother Pete and Ernie worked as a team. After Earl and Ronnie quit his Dad's plumbing Company to work for the Frank Irish Plumbing Company which was "Union", Ernie followed along with his brother, Pete. Ernie loved racing old cars, fishing, photography, developing his own pictures, and the Indy 500 where his ashes were scattered. Ernie died at 11:25 P.M. on the 28th of April 2017 at the age of 71 from acute renal failure, hyper calcemia, metastatic malignant melanoma, hypertension, and pleural effusions. His wife, Roberta "Joan" Brown was the informant on his death certificate.
