George Giddings married in St Albans, Hertfordshire, 20 February 1633[/4] Jane Lawrence, daughter of Thomas Lawrence and his wife Joan Antrobus. She died at Ipswich on 2 March 1680[/1?].
They had 8 children: Thomas, John, James, Samuel, Joseph, Abigail Dutch, & Mary Pierce Hubbard.
The youngest son, Joseph, is given in some secondary sources the middle name "Collins," a very unlikely occurrence in seventeenth-century New England. In the probate documents the sons are listed together, with the surname appearing only once, at the end of the list. The surname is in at least one case written as "Gittens," which an inexperienced researcher could misread as "Collins." Joseph is missing from the agreement of 26 September 1676 regarding the division to the eldest son. He was certainly living and of age at that time, so his omission is probably an oversight.
Joan (Lawrence) Giddings, the wife of this immigrant, was granddaughter of JOAN ANTROBUS {1635, Unknown}, with whom she travelled to New England. She was also stepdaughter of JOHN TUTTLE {1635, Ipswich}, and sister of JOHN LAWRENCE {1635, Ipswich}, THOMAS LAWRENCE {1635, Ipswich}, WILLIAM LAWRENCE {1635, Ipswich} and Mary (Lawrence) Burnham, wife of Thomas Burnham of Ipswich.
