China Twp.--Rosie Distelrath, 70, of China Township died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Aug. 23, 1931, in St. Clair to the late Art and Ruth Ellery.
On Feb. 4, 1950, Rosie married Leo E. Distelrath in St. Clair.
Rosie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, rosary Altar Society and the Daughters of Isabella.
She also was a member of the former Mothers Club associated with East China schools.
She worked at St. Mary's School in St. Clair.
Rosie enjoyed bingo, shopping and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years. Leo; children, Ronald (Mary) Distelrath, Leo Jr. (Anne) Distelrath, Edward Distelrath and special friend, Patti Gottler, Beverly (Mark) Weingartz, Lisa (Joe) Meyers, all of St. Clair, Eileen (Chip) Fitzgerald of Marysville, Sandy (Dave) Barnum of Port Huron Township, Karen (Gary) Smith of Fort Gratiot and Jodi Distelrath and special friend, Chad Ewald, of St. Clair Shores; grandchildren, Tim, Todd and Stacy Distelrath, Shannon Smith, Matthew and Nathan Distelrath, Bradley and Jared Distelrath, Krista, Kurt and Connor Fitzgerald, Amanda, Alyssa, Anthony, Andrew and Austin Weingartz, Jeremy Barnum, and Evan, Micayla, Elysia and Garrett Meyers; her great-grandson, Troy Distelrath; her sisters, Virginia (Andy) Friederichs of Marine City and Diana (Phil) Carrol of Smiths Creek; her brothers, Herb (Barb) Ellery of Utah, Art (Ellen) Ellery of Florida, Bernard (Joan) Ellery of Port Huron, Bill (Carol) Ellery of Columbus Township and George (Carol) Ellery of Connecticut; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Victor and Grace Distelrath of St. Clair, Gerald and Ann Distelrath of St. Clair, Jeanette and Wilfred Osterland of Marine City, Mary Lou and Ray Keller of Utica, Margaret and Pat Patterson of Kalkaska and Frances Distelrath of Northville; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Ann Distelrath; grandson, Kyle Thueme; brother, Robert Ellery; and sister, Mary Lou Cornette.
Services will be 9:15 a.m. Saturday in Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, China Township, and 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clair. The Rev. Ron Victor, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today and Friday. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Rosie's sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery, St. Mary's Scholarship Fund, Blue Water Hospice or the donor's choice.
