OBITUARY FOR MRS. BEAMES

Mrs. Sarah Peasley Beames was born near Rising Sun Ind. Sept. 6, 1834. After a long and useful life she passed peacefully away, Wednesday at 9 a.m. Sept. 20th. 1916, suffering from chronic bronchitis and old age. She was 83 years and 14 days of age.

She was in company with her parents moved to Brighton, Iowa in 1839. At that place Miss Peasley was united in holy wedlock to Mr. James B. Beames of Burlington, Iowa October 1, 1855. To this union were born seven children, four boys and three girls of whom three are still living viz,: Mrs. Edward Seabolt of Scandia, Kans., Mrs. Arvilla Williams of Belleville, Kan and Mr. Wm. C. Beames of Lincoln Nebr. Mrs. Beames has one sister, Mrs. Anna Garbry of Scandia, and two brothers; Lee Peasley of Fairfield, Ia. and Mont Peasley of Spokane, Wash. These Children with their father and eleven grand-children and seven great-grand-children are mourning the loss of this sainted woman.

Miss Peasley was converted at the age of 19 years and united with the Separated Baptist Church. Later she attended the services of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and embraced their faith under the preaching of Evangelists M.E. Cornell and G.I. Butler in the year 1869. She has been a faithful and devoted member of this church from that time until her decease, even though many times has for long years been deprived of the privilege of associating with those of like faith, spending as she did 47 year within the fold of this church.

In the year 1870, she and her husband moved to Savannah, MO where they lived for nine years. Then in the year 1879, they moved to Scandia, where they have lived happily and peacefully ever since making a total residence of 37 years in this town.

She was a devoted, unassuming Christian woman, a faithful wife and mother and a friend to eveyone, to strangers as well as acquaintances. She did not have an enemy in the world and always had a good word for everybody. Funeral service was held at the United Brethren Church, B.L. House, pastor from Lincoln, Neb. assisted by Rev. G.L. Rarick, M.E. pastor and the U.B. choir - contributed
