David was the second of five children of John & Calista (Castle) Fuquay. The family was one of the first pioneer families of Warrick Co., Indiana, coming here from Kentucky and locating in the County in about 1817. On May 27, 1866, he married Mary J. Marts and they had two children - Orilla L. and Daniel N. David enlisted on May 7, 1864 in Company I, 136th Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry, serving until he was honorably discharged at Indianapolis.
