Howard Lawson, 95, of Amarillo died Monday, May 11, 2009.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Dr. G.A. Roach officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Lawson was born Feb. 22, 1914, in Dallas to Charles and Lizzie Lawson. After 24 years as a custom home builder in Amarillo, Mr. Lawson moved to Glenwood Springs, Colo., and joined his brother-in-law as partner in a Lincoln-Mercury automobile dealership from 1970 until 1977. Mr. Lawson was a lifetime member of Local Carpenter Union No. 665 and a member of San Jacinto Methodist Church for more than 65 years. He was named Amarillo's Father of the Year in 1955.

He married Dorris in1942 and was preceded in death by his wife, Dorris Lawson; a son, Howard Lawson Jr.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Beavers and Trent Lawson, both of Grand Junction, Colo.; two daughters, Lovena Sells of Denver and Faythe Hein of Amarillo; a sister, Charlene Revier of Loveland, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Covenant Fellowship Church, 1731 S. Avondale St., Amarillo, TX 79106.
