George Jr. Moor Ceresco George Jr. Moor, age 79, of Ceresco, died Monday, December 22, 2008 at Bronson Select Specialty Hospital in Kalamazoo. George was born December 23, 1928 in Homer to Parents George D. and Monica (Butcher) Moor. He attended Homer schools. As a boy George helped his father farm their home farm as well as helping area relatives with their farm work. When George was 18 years old his father co-signed for him to buy a canned milk route. He worked a farm and his milk route until 1956. On September 9, 1950 he was married to Charlene M. Rocho at Ceresco Baptist Church. The couple lived in that area after their marriage and George worked a local farm and his route until 1956. That year he was drafted into the U.S. Army and forced to sell the route. After his honorable discharge in 1958 George returned to the Ceresco area and had lived there since. He went to work as a driver for Michigan Milk Producers hauling milk from local farms to several dairy operations. In 1968 George became a carpenter and custodian for the Harper Creek Public Schools. He retired from there in the early 1990s. Charlene preceded George in death on October 31, 2006. George attended Ceresco Baptist Church with his family. He served as a firefighter with Marshall Township Fire Department in the 1960s. He was a hard worker who was always willing to set his own work aside to help family or friends. After his retirement he filed saw blades for area businesses. He loved working with wood and created special toys and furniture for his family. George built and installed cabinets for a friend's home that the friend said "will be there after the house has fallen!" He participated in family home remodeling over the years as well as working on what needed to be fixed at the church. Surviving are his daughters, Diana (Robin) Kidder of Albion, Dorene McJunkin of Battle Creek, Denise (Tony) Green of Ceresco and Darla (Randy) Thorpe of Battle Creek; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Jeanette Moor of Homer. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Hubert Moor, and half brothers Edwin and Dale Moor. Friends may call at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home Friday 2-8 p.m. with family present to greet friends and share memories 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Services to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, December 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Craig K.
