Irmal R. Wools, 90, passed away at 8:49 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009, at The Hearth at Stones Crossing in Greenwood after a prolonged illness. She was a resident of Greenwood.
She was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Greene County to Robert and Carrie Woodruff.
She married Raymond R. Wools of Jasonville on Dec. 7, 1935, and they were together happily more than 50 years until his death May 3, 1986. They formerly resided in Bicknell and Petersburg.
She is survived by her five children, Donald (Marilyn) Wools of Columbus, Alicia (Harold) Privett of Greenwood, Linda (Dennis) Scott of Hudson, Fla., Richard (Mary Jane) Wools of Weeki Wachee, Fla., and Dale (Sammie) Wools of Orlando, Fla.
She also is survived by a sister, Margie (Robert) Keller of Evansville; a brother, Charles (Carolyn) Woodruff of Evansville; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and 12 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Olon Phillips of Dugger; two brothers, Robert Woodruff of Lyons and George Woodruff; and a half brother, Amos Gillette.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 7602 Madison Ave., Indianapolis. The Rev. Mary Cartwright will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Greenwood United Methodist Church, 525 N. Madison Ave. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
