Born Mata Louise Kuck in Flora Township, Renville County, Minnesota on 10 Dec. 1882
to parents Henry Luther Kuck and Caroline Wilhelmia (Geist), Kuck. As an adult, she went by the name of May Cook or May Crosby.

She married Lincoln County, WA resident Charles Everett Crosby in Davenport, WA on 6 March 1910.

Their only child was Dorothy May Crosby who later went by Wanda May. Wanda May and her 2nd husband LeRoy Ludwig and her six children died tragically in a cabin fire at a logging camp near Sandy, Clackamas County, Oregon in 1950.

May and her husband appear in Spokane on census in 1920 and 1930 prior to "Everett's death. By the 1940 US Census, May was listed as a widowed housekeeper to a head of household in Snohomish County, WA. The gentleman's name is very illegible, but he appears to be the same person listed as a friend on her later funeral home or cemetery record.

May died on August 14, 1966 at Delta Rehab in Snohomish, after having lived at the rehab center for about four years prior to death, per funeral home records.

Purdy & Dawson Funeral Home were in charge of May's arrangements, operating now as Purdy and Kerr with Dawson. In 2015 the staff there confirmed her Flora birthplace, noted that the she had a Chapel Service with a minister at the funeral home, her survivors were listed as sister Mrs. W.R. Maillie of 23675 Tualatin Valley Hwy, Hillsboro, Oregon and a friend listed as L.L. Leslie or Leadie Shaeffer or Shattner, illegible, but research found on the 1940 census she is listed as a housekeeper to a head of house in Cathcart, Snohomish, WA. whereby both their names are incorrectly transcribed, but head of house name would appear on that census to be a male, Leslie L. Shaffner, same person as listed as friend on her funeral record. Her name appears as Mae Cresby on that census.

Woodlawn Cemetery Records: Staff tells that her birth record of May 10,1882 was provided them by the "State" at the time of her death, although that differs from the December 10,1882 records of not only two family lines, but US Census records that also list a December birth month. Could a government agency or informing family member have gotten this Mata's birth date confused with the other Meta Kuck's death date of May 10th? They also confirm survived by sister Mrs. William R. Maillie of Hillsboro, Oregon, also known to living descendants to be their ancestor.
