Lewis Richard Kring
Nov. 7, 1861 - Aug. 24, 1936

Johnstown, PA--Lewis R. Kring, 75, of Johnstown, passed away Aug. 24, 1936, in his home of natural causes. Lewis was born on November 7, 1861, in Salix, PA, the son of Moses and Susan (Dunmyer) Kring, of Salix.

As a boy, Lewis passed his time by playing in the woods and fields, fishing and helping his father and bothers work the family farm.

On August 29, 1889, in Salix, Lewis married the former Elizabeth Jane Rhoads (1866-1947) of Johnstown, PA.

Like his father and grandfather before him, Lewis made his living by farming the land. Being people of the faith, the Krings were members of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Salix.

Through the union of Lewis and Elizabeth, eight children were born: five sons: Maurice R. Kring (1890-1946), Alvin Israel Kring (1891-1980), Palmer Moses Kring (1891-1945), Lawrence Andrew Kring (1895-1975) and Clarence Kring (stillborn, no data); three daughters: Suie Vioma Kring (1898-1979), Eva Cidney Kring (1900-1980) and Della Rudolph Kring (1902-1980).

Both Lewis and Elizabeth are buried in Dunmyer Cemetery, Salix, PA.
