Norma was born in Stanwood, WA to Peter and Dagney (Lund) Gunerius September 13, 1927; she passed away May 15, 2009 in Burlington with her children at her side.

She attended schools in Stanwood and graduated from Twin City High School in 1946. She moved to Seattle for a short time and returned to Skagit Valley and worked at Bert Robinson's. In 1952 she married John Allquist and they raised their 3 children. During those years she spent many hours volunteering in her children's schools and with their activities such as 4-H and little league. She also spent time volunteering at the Democratic Headquarters in Skagit County.

She enjoyed dancing, music, playing the piano, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her sisters.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children in 2003; son: Scott in 2002 and sisters: Shirley Novotny and Dona Egbers.

She is survived by daughter: Kathy Allquist and daughter and sons-in-law Julee and Aaron Bradshaw; her grandchildren: Brian and Amanda Good-Kucsan, Ryan Schols and Danielle, Joseph and Hannah Allquist; one sister and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Where the Heart Is for all their loving care and support.

Memorial donations may be made in Norma's name to Skagit Hospice, PO Box 1376 Mount Vernon, WA 98273 or the Alzheimer's Association 12721 30th Ave NE #101, Seattle, WA 98125.

You will be forever in our hearts Mom. A private family Graveside Service will be held at Hawthorne Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 22, 2009, 3:00 pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home with a reception to follow in the Hawthorne Reception Room.

Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home, 1825 E College Way, Mount Vernon.
