FOUND DEAD
The Lifeless Body of Hamilton Allen Found in His Yard.

Hamilton Allen (colored) was found dead at his home, six miles southwest of this city, last Thursday at 6 o'clock. He was found lying by his well by some neighbors and he had, from all appearances, been dead over twenty-four hours. Allen was an old bachellor (sic) and lived alone. The cause of his death was probably heart failure. He had evidently been taken very suddenly and his death was instant. He had been drawing a bucket of water and had dropped dead in his tracks. Allen was in this city last Saturday and while walking down Commercial street, fell to the sidewalk in a faint and had to be carried into a store before he revived. His health has not been good for some time. Mr. Allen was a well to do colored man and was thought by many to have considerable money. And it is just possible that he was murdered for his money. However, it is more probable that he died from natural causes. But, in any event, his death was instant. He was 55 years old. Under Sheriff Dennis O'Connor and Coroner Dr. Boylan drove out to the farm this afternoon to investigate the case. No inquest will be held unless evidence of violence is found.--Same edition, p.2, c.2--NATURAL CAUSES--Produced Hamilton Allen's Death--Was Very Wealthy--The remains of Hamilton Allen, the colored man who was fond dead on his farm, six miles southwest of this city, Thursday morning, were bought to this city by Undertaker Samuels, late last evening, and an inquest was held over them. Coroner Dr. Boylan impanelled (sic) the following jury; Scott Koontz, L. Bassett, Alex A. Reeves. S. F. Bucher, Chas. Ryan and J. M. Parrington. The jury returned a verdict finding that the deceased came to his death from natural causes. The immediate cause of his death, as shown by the autopsy, was rupture of the bladder. As stated yesterday, Allen was a wealthy old bachelor; and, so far as known, he has no living relatives. Alex A. Reeves was appointed administrator of the deceased's estate. The funeral was held Friday morning at 11 o'clock from Samuel's undertaking establishment. It was conducted by Rev. King of the A.M.E. church. The internment was made in Maplewood cemetery
