A retired B & O Railroad employee, Hugh F. Barnum, 83, of South Spencer Road, Geneva-on-the Lake, died Friday afternoon in Northeastern Ohio General Hospital, following a lingering illness.

Born Sept. 27, 1893 in Hambden Township, Mr. Barnum was a three-year Geneva-on-the-Lake resident, formerly of Painesville.

He was a member of the Lake County Retired Persons, Painesville and Senior Citizens, Geneva.

Survivors include three sons, Willis of Willoughby, Floyd of Unionville and Vernie of San Bernardino, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Vern (Florence) Adams of Geneva; brother Leon of Ashtabula; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
