Robert (Bob) Edward Akers, 60, of 357 Church St, Dublin, died early Sunday morning in the Radford Community Hospital. He was born in Pulaski County on July 13, 1918, son of the late Effort Wayne Akers & Alice Spradlin Akers. He was a retired employee of the Dublin Hardware Store and was a member of the Dublin Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Isaacs Akers; two sons, Danny W. Akers, Fairlawn, and Jack A. Akers, Troutville; three brothers, Effert Wayne Akers Jr, Pulaski, Earl Akers, Salem, and Beverly Akers, Meadowview, and four grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Dublin Baptist Church with the Rev. Malcolm L. Cadd officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum in Highland Memorial Gardens, in Dublin. Friends and relatives may call anytime today and the family will receive friends from 7 to 10 p.m. this evening at the Bower Funeral Home, Dublin. The body will be placed in the church by noon Tuesday to lie in state until the service.
